This summer, the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) opened a brand-new business hub on its campus: The John Tulloch Business Building. This building is the new home for the university’s College of Business, as well as a space for local business leaders to collaborate and connect with the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators. The 128,000 square foot building is not only a beautiful addition to the architecture on the UNR campus, but also a modern, high-tech center for learning and innovation.
Before its official opening in August, the building needed to be equipped with the latest AV technology to allow its students, professors, and visiting professionals to be able to communicate, teach, and share their ideas effectively and clearly—including with remote participants.
As an established Crestron Service Provider (CSP) in the Reno, Nevada area, AV Programming Associates (AVPA) was the obvious choice to provide the AV programming for the various spaces in the building that needed Crestron programming. Not only has AVPA been in business for more than 20 years, the company is also known for providing Crestron programming for high-end and complex projects just like this. In addition, AVPA is a local company, with headquarters just outside of Reno in the Lake Tahoe area.
During their many years in business, AVPA has been the Crestron Service Provider of choice for multiple projects at universities, as well as government building, commercial spaces, high-end residences, and even sports arenas. They have worked throughout the country (and even on some international projects), so they were thrilled to be able to work on a project so close to home!
For this specific project, AVPA provided:
- Programming for AV presentation systems that would allow presenters to easily project information from their own laptops or mobile devices to classroom participants, as well as to remote participants
- Integration of voice-activated cameras into a Microsoft Teams conferencing system for hands-free camera switching
- Customized design of three different touchpanels, with ease of use in mind
AVPA also thoroughly tested the entire system to ensure proper functionality. By the time classes were ready to start for the Fall semester, everything was up and running and ready for professors and students to utilize.
Projects of this size and complexity require the expertise of a Crestron Service Provider like AVPA. CSPs are independent companies or individuals who have been certified by Crestron for their ability to provide expert design, programming, and support services for Crestron automation systems in complex environments. CSPs also have access to Crestron support for troubleshooting and problem solving.
